Sudan Food Festival

The Sudan Food Festival was sponsored by DAL Food, a major food distributor in Khartoum. Food, culture, dance, music, and costumes from all over Sudan were represented. There are 100’s of tribes in Sudan. I was fortunate to make a good friend in Dafa Alla Elhag, who studies the history and music of these tribes and directs a traditional music ensemble that performs all around the world. He was a wealth of knowledge about Sudanese music and traditions.

Sudan is a very diverse country; the great indicator of this is the immense number of tribes, languages and traditions in Sudan. Each tribe has its own customs in marriage, mourning, and even music.
