Next Stop….Beijing

Moving to a new country brings with it so much excitement….discovering a different part of the world, a new culture and language, and all that goes with it. New colleagues you will learn to work with and maybe even forge lifelong friendships with and new students to meet and LEARN ALL THEIR NAMES.

There is always the learning curve to navigate the ways of doing things that seemed simple in another time and place but are a mystery now — things like establishing mobile phone service, getting internet up and running in your apartment, how to pay a utility bill – or if there is one to pay at all. There are expat teachers who have been here for a while and local staff who are happy to help, but at some point, you just have to get out there and figure it out by doing.
