Living in Sudan

Living in Sudan

One of our first meals together as a group, I made lasagna–believe it or not!

We discovered one of the local “western” restaurants–Ozone. Had to go there to read American magazines, eat ice cream and have drinks with “safe” ice!

During the first weeks in Sudan we often cooked and ate together. Many of us were new to international teaching, and being expats is a very different experience. We got to know each other over sharing meals! Sometimes we tried to replicate dishes from home…sometimes we tried the local food! 🙂

YES!! Finally got to the local coffee shop that looks suspiciously familiar--STARBOX!!

Got my latte fix at Starbox...hmmm looks so familiar!

Our first meal out together was at Amwagh, a local fish restaurant. You order your Nile fish by the kilo, it comes either fried or grilled. It is served on a huge tray with ash bread, rocket salad and dips. Delicious!!
